Case Study Diorama

Case Study: Overview

For this Case Study, I was tasked in building and animating a 15 second diorama scene in Adobe After Effects.  The topic/ theme was our choice. I decided to create a scene where a person downloads a virus by accident and struggles to remove it from his desktop. In order to better prepare for this project, I created a storyboard to help dictate where and when the events would take fold. That way the assets in mind will already take form and the movements will already be laid out. Once our storyboard was brought to our client for feedback, it was the time to build the assets that we would then bring into thew Adobe After Effect. In order for them all to be in one manageable document to carry from one software to the next, they would need to be on one Adobe Illustrator document and  a proper size so that they don’t come out grainy and small. To enhance the animation, I add a mix of audio components, and sound effects. I included hands and movements for the character’s position from room door, to the exact location of where he is on his desk space. In order to give the animation more of a cartoony feel, I animated the virus to fly outside of the computer and fly behind it. I was able to achieve this through the 3d settings After Effects has to offer.
